【about the Laundries】

In 1992, vocalist Takayuki Kimura, who was greatly influenced by neo-acoustic sound while living abroad in his teens, gathered members based on the concept of bands such as Aztec Camera, The Smiths, Felt, and Pale Fountains, and started performing at live houses in Tokyo.

In 1999, he participated in the compilation album "Rabid Chords Vol.1" released by Victor Entertainment. His Japanese cover "Sinatra`s Joke" of Trash Can Sinatras "Who's He" is recorded. Triggered by this, interaction with Trashcan Sinatras begins. 　
In March 2003, his 1st album "THE LAUNDRIES" was released.

After 10 years, the 2nd album "NATALIE" was released in August 2013.

In parallel with music production, live activities are also actively performed. He has appeared in many events such as "Power Pop Revival", which drives the Japanese indie scene, and "Ongaku Hyakukei", which colors the Niigata pop scene, and deepens exchanges with many guitar pop and neo-acoustic bands.

In July 2016, bassist and multi-player Terry Yoshida participated in the Trashcan Sinatras stage at "FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '16 RED MARQUEE" as a trumpet.

In December 2016, the new album "Synanthrope" was released for the first time in three and a half years. From the album, keyboard Hisayuki joined and it became a 5-member system. In album production, two powerful engineers (former on-air studio chief Shinpei Yamada and Mika Nakashima engineer Atsushi Fujita) and mastering master (Mitsuharu Harada) who is familiar with Tatsuro Yamashita are in charge of the album.

The band name comes from the song "Laundry" by The Lilac Time. Influenced by 80's neo-acoustic sounds such as Aztec Camera, The Smith, The Pale Fountains, and Trashcan Sinatras, not only their musicality, but also the attitude of neo-acoustic, which originally had a strong punk influence.

Remember how Bill Murray woke up to I Got You Babe every day in Groundhog Day? If that song would have been Made Of Moods, he at the very least experienced three and a half perfect minutes each day. It’s one of those songs that I enjoy each and every second of, with it’s jangly guitars and hushed vocals that almost have a Beach Boys vibe, especially in the verse. Truly, it’s a song for the ages.
